Christmas Countdown advent calendar Class

Each December families begin to decorate their homes, inside and out. The house is filled with Christmas music and the sweet smell of baking. An advent calendar begins the happy time of anticipation.

In this class you’ll create a whimsical, handmade advent calendar to fill with goodies for you and your family to count down to Christmas. Be sure to check the calendar every day for treats, tiny gifts, hints for a scavenger hunt and lots more fun things to do.

The class will be taught by Shannon on Saturday, November 14, at 1:00 p.m. The location will be announced shortly, and it will be in San Diego County. The cost of the class is $42 and all materials are provided. Participants must provide their own basic tool kit that includes scissors, paper trimmer, and heavy duty hole punch (i.e., Crop-a-dile); permanent dry and wet adhesives, Glue Dots, and two (2) foam brushes. Project kits are also available. Paper patterns and embellishments may vary from this photo. Sorry, no refunds.

To register for the class, please email Shannon at createwithshannon@gmail.com. Space is limited and the class is filling fast. Feel free to contact Shannon with any questions. Don't miss out on the holiday fun!

Examiner.com -- who knew?!

It's a small world with big potential!  I'd just told my mom that it would be so cool to be able to write a column about paper crafts, scrapbooking and all the great places that cater to those of us addicted to the fine art of scrapping, when lo' and behold, the opportunity to do just that landed in my lap.  I got the news yesterday that I got the job writing for Examiner.com, an online publication devoted to sharing the latest and greatest local information in specific areas of interest -- and I'm writing the scrapbooking/paper crafts column!!!  I'm so excited about this opportunity to share and learn (then share some more!), so check back here shortly for more information about San Diego's newest Examiner.  I'd love to hear YOUR ideas and suggestions on scrapbooking stores, events, tools and products - anything scrappy going on in and around San Diego.  Grab hold and jump out into that BIG world with me!

My Paper Passion

As many of you know, I'm prone to falling in love rather easily - with all things papercraftery, that is.  I've discovered a stamp company that's caught my eye and inspired my creativity.  It's a great feeling - all warm and tingly inside.  You remember that don't you?

I've joined in the comm{unity} of Unity Stamp Company and am having such a good time being involved with fellow crafters, enjoying the spectacular eye candy and joining in the challenges and activities.  Ain't life grand?

Here is my first, first use of a Unity stamp.  It's from their April Kit of the Month (KOTM) called "fresh beginnings".  The quality of their stamps is superior - deep etching, thick cushy mount, easy to use on your own block or with their unique block system.  You should check out the Unity Stamp Company's website and their comm{unity}.  I know you'll fall in love too.

I also used a new line of fabulous paper from October Afternoon called "cherry hill: tea towel", Nestabilities large ovals and scalloped ovals, Rose Red cardstock from SU, Rose Red, Bashful Blue, Bordering Blue, Cameo Coral, Close to Cocoa and So Saffron inks from SU, Tuxedo Black Memento dye ink from Tsukineko, and watercolor paper.  I threw on a few little buttons from my stash and ran a line of stitching around the border for that truly homemade feel.

There'll be a blog hop next weekend (May 15-17), so stop by and then visit the 100 other blog hoppers to see what they came up with using Unity Stamp Company's Kits of the Month.

Card Club (with a twist)

I was inspired tonight by my team leader, Katherine, with a brilliant idea for a new club -- she asked, "Do you love to stamp, but sometimes have to [gasp] BUY a card because the occasion snuck up on you or you just didn't have the right supplies on hand?" We've all been there -- and no one wants to be there again!

So, drum roll please, join my
Stampin' Up! Card Club. It's a card club, but with a twist you're all gonna love! Here are the details by which you'll walk away with a box full of handmade cards -- all made with love by YOU!

CLUB DETAILS

-Join the Club, participate all 6 months and you'll have accumulated over $48 worth of SU! product and created 72 cards.
-Each month will have its own theme and you'll create 12 cards (3 designs, 4 of each) based on that theme.
